Point-of-Care-Ultrasound (POCUS) has rapidly established itself as an indispensable tool and the standard of care in many areas of medicine. The goal of this session is to introduce attendees to some of the most high-yield application of POCUS, including using POCUS to diagnose: heart failure, kidney stone, AAA, cholecystitis, DVT, and musculoskeletal pathology such as rotator cuff tears.

Don't miss this opportunity to learn the basic skills in osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT). Osteopathic medicine seeks to treat the whole person while promoting the body’s innate ability for self-healing. It’s rooted in the concept that the body’s physical structure—the relationship between nerves, muscles, bones and organs—affects physiologic function. OMT seeks to correct those structural problems through a variety of modalities, including soft tissue, counter strain, muscle energy and myofascial release.

This hands-on workshop will explore best in class treatment techniques for the care of a variety of wounds. During this two-hour session, attendees will engage in learning through a demonstration and practice of debridments, punch biopsy, as well as dressing and compression techniques.

Participants will learn and enhance skills in joint and bursae injections using a landmark based approach. Common primary care musculoskeletal complaints, exam, and techniques will be covered to show how this valuable skill is utilized. The workshop will also provide an introduction to platelet rich plasma injections.

Registration requires an American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) ID. An ID does not constitute or require membership to the AAFP.

*Active members of the co-hosting organizations (AAFP, American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians [ACOFP], Family Medicine Education Consortium [FMEC], and DPC Alliance) are eligible for a discounted registration fee. AAFP members will automatically be deducted at registration checkout. For other organizations, contact your membership organization directly for a discount code to receive the reduced pricing.

If you are an AOA member, please include your AOA number at the bottom of the first page when registering for this course. AAFP will report your AOA Category 1-A CME credits to AOA for you.

The American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. ACOFP designates this live activity for a maximum of 26 AOA Category 1-A CME credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

About Livestream Registration

  • Link to livestream will be provided 24 hours before the event begins.
  • Livestream registration includes access to the general sessions and 101 and 201 session. The livestream does not include access to the 301, or procedural workshop sessions. 
  • All times are central standard time (CST).
  • All sessions are live and will be recorded and available after the event. 
  • Livestream attendees will be able to participate live in polls and q/a with the speakers via the virtual platform. 
  • CME credit will be available for livestream attendees that view education during the live event

The AAFP has reviewed DPC Summit and deemed it acceptable for up to 26.00 Live AAFP Prescribed credit. Term of Approval is from 06/15/2023 to 06/18/2023. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of AAFP and The DPC Alliance and ACOFP. The AAFP is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The American Academy of Family Physicians designates this Live activity for a maximum of 26.00 AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

CME activities approved for AAFP credit are recognized by the AOA as equivalent to AOA Category 2 credit.

Cancellation Policy

The AAFP must receive notice of cancellation no later than May 25, 2023. Requests for full cancellations will be refunded—minus a $50 administrative fee. Cancellations or no-shows after this date are not eligible for a refund.

Please allow up to four weeks for delivery of refunds. Fees will be refunded the same way they were paid to the AAFP. This policy covers registration and ticketed events.

The AAFP is not responsible for penalties, non-refundable airline tickets, or hotel deposits that registrants may have spent in the event this course is cancelled or sold out. If a program is canceled by the AAFP, every effort will be made to notify registrants at least 30 days prior to the first day of the course or conference and registration fees will be refunded.
