Add-on Workshop***: Fundamentals of Point-Of-Care Ultrasound

The advances in ultrasound resolution, technology and cost have put this modality well within the scope and ability of every practicing family physician. This Fundamentals of POCUS workshop is a unique hands-on experience to teach clinicians the basics of portable ultrasound. At the end of this workshop, the participant should have basic knowledge of the physics and knobology of POCUS as well as competence in the techniques for diagnosis and procedural guidance in the neck (thyroid), abdomen (gallbladder, kidney, urinary bladder) and chest (lungs, heart) and be familiar with technical steps to use ultrasound technology for the benefit of family medicine patients.

Add-on Workshop***: Skills Workshop AKA "Office Procedures Docs Never Learned or Are Too Embarrassed to Admit They Don't Have a Clue How to Do"

During this 4-hour intense skills workshop, participants will be divided into small groups that will rotate through four unique stations with hands-on instruction and practice on (1) Venipuncture (Phlebotomy) and Office Labs, (2) Foreign Object Removal & IM/SQ Injections, (3) Ear Lavage, Nebulizer Meds and IV Placement; (4) Suturing. Each participant will be able to practice and observe with immediate feedback from the supervising faculty. Workshop is designed for those looking to enhance their current skills/knowledge and review current practice or looking to acquire new skills.

This hands-on workshop will explore best-in-class diagnostic and treatment techniques for a variety of dermatologic conditions and wounds. Participants will sharpen their dermatological diagnostic skills through dermoscopy practice and elevate your proficiency in subsequent skills such as excision and cryotherapy. Then delve into a dynamic demonstration and hands-n practice covering essential aspects such as wound debridement, biopsies, and mastery of dressing and compression techniques.

Add-on Workshop***:  Advanced Point-of-Care Ultrasound

Do you already have experience with portable ultrasound, but would like to expand your application? Participants in this advanced POCUS workshop will leave with improved clinical proficiency in the following areas: vascular (aorta, upper/lower extremity venous) soft tissue and musculoskeletal (skin, shoulder, knee), and procedures (joint injection, IV access, incision and drainage). Participants of this workshop should already have basic knowledge and some experience with POCUS technology.

Registration requires an American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) ID. An ID does not constitute or require membership to the AAFP.

**Limited spots are available for the workshops and require an additional fee. You must register for this event during your DPC Summit registration, as on-site registration will not be open.

If you are an AOA member, please include your AOA number at the bottom of the first page when registering for this course. AAFP will report your AOA Category 1-A CME credits to AOA for you.

About Livestream Registration

  • Link to livestream will be provided 24 hours before the event begins.
  • Livestream registration includes access to the general sessions and 101 and 201 session. The livestream does not include access to the 301, or procedural workshop sessions. 
  • All times are central standard time (CST).
  • All sessions are live and will be recorded and available after the event. 
  • Livestream attendees will be able to participate live in polls and q/a with the speakers via the virtual platform. 
  • CME credit will be available for livestream attendees that view education during the live event

CME Credit Statements

The AAFP has reviewed DPC Summit and deemed it acceptable for up to 24.00 Live AAFP Prescribed credit(s). Term of Approval is from 06/20/2024 to 06/23/2024. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of AAFP and DPC Alliance and ACOFP. The AAFP is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The American Academy of Family Physicians designates this Live activity for a maximum of 24.00 AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s). Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

CME activities approved for AAFP credit are recognized by the AOA as equivalent to AOA Category 2 credit.

Please note that CME credit was not awarded to the "401(k), Solo 401(k), IRAs: What's Best for DPC" session, per the CME provider's request.


Cancellation Policy

The AAFP must receive notice of cancellation no later than May 23, 2024. Requests for full cancellations will be refunded—minus a $50 administrative fee. Cancellations or no-shows after this date are not eligible for a refund.

Please allow up to four weeks for delivery of refunds. Fees will be refunded the same way they were paid to the AAFP. This policy covers registration and ticketed events.

The AAFP is not responsible for penalties, non-refundable airline tickets, or hotel deposits that registrants may have spent in the event this course is cancelled or sold out. If a program is canceled by the AAFP, every effort will be made to notify registrants at least 30 days prior to the first day of the course or conference and registration fees will be refunded.
