The AAFP Foundation has partnered with the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, the DPC Alliance, and the Family Medicine Education Consortium to create the Direct Primary Care (DPC) Summit Medical Student and Resident Scholarship Fund.
The DPC Summit Scholarship Fund aims to inspire future generations of physicians by offering the chance to explore and familiarize themselves with the Direct Primary Care model. DPC emphasizes personalized, patient-centered care in line with the core values of primary care.
All scholarships are made possible by the donations of DPC physicians across the country.
The number of scholarships varies depending on the funding level and the number of applicants.
Scholarship recipients are selected by a panel of judges from the DPC Summit planning committee.
The $700 scholarship and free registration is intended to help reduce out-of-pocket expenses (travel, lodging, meals) for attending DPC Summit.
All scholarship checks are awarded at the event. You will need to register and handle all your travel accommodations. If you are unable to attend the conference, your scholarship will be forfeited.
Application process is now open.
Applicants who wish to apply for this award should complete the online form that requests the following information:
The applications will be reviewed and scored by the members of the DPC Summit Planning Committee. The applicants receiving the highest numeric scores will be chosen to receive the scholarship.
Every effort will be made to maintain a balance between the number of residents and the number of medical students.
When writing your answers, keep in mind that numerous applications are received and reviewed by the judges.
Make your application stand out and try to avoid clichés.
As the application is a chance for the judges to learn about you and your goals, you are encouraged to provide thoughtful and authentic answers.
Checks will be distributed upon check-in at the registration booth at the DPC Summit. Each recipient must sign for the check, as well as complete a W-9 Form prior to receiving the check.
