This two-hour, hands-on skills workshop equips participants with evidence-based, best-practice techniques for evaluating and managing common foot and ankle concerns in the clinical setting. Through demonstration and guided practice, learners will build practical proficiency and confidence performing core procedures, with attention to indications, safety, patient comfort, and post-procedure care. 

Participants will leave with increased comfort in: callus paring and nail plate biopsy; toenail removal; ingrown toenail evaluation and management; and digital nerve block.

This 2-hour, skills-focused workshop equips direct primary care clinicians with practical, office-ready ENT procedures that improve access, efficiency, and patient satisfaction. Participants will practice core techniques and workflow tips for foreign body removal (ear and nasal), ear lavage and cerumen management, and additional common in-clinic ENT skills. Emphasis is placed on patient selection, safety/red flags, comfort measures, documentation/coding considerations, and troubleshooting to support confident, same-day care in the DPC setting.

Add-on Workshop***: Dermatology, Minor Surgical Procedures & Wound Care

This hands-on workshop will explore best in class diagnostic and treatment techniques for a variety of dermatologic conditions and wounds. Participants will sharpen their dermatological diagnostic skills through dermoscopy practice and elevate their proficiency in subsequent skills such as excision and cryotherapy. Then delve into a dynamic demonstration and hands-on practice covering essential aspects such as wound debridement, biopsies, and mastery of dressing and compression techniques.

Add-on Workshop***:  POCUS/Ultrasound

The advances in ultrasound resolution, technology and cost have put this modality well within the scope and ability of every practicing physician. This hands-on, skill-based POCUS workshop equips clinicians to acquire and interpret high-quality ultrasound images. At the end of this workshop, the participant should have basic knowledge of the physics and knobology of POCUS as well as competence in the techniques for diagnosis and procedural guidance and be familiar with technical steps to use ultrasound technology for the benefit of family medicine patients.

This workshop is designed for MDs and DOs who want to integrate a non-pharmacologic, hands-on approach to patient care. Participants will leave with a fundamental understanding of osteopathic principles and the ability to perform selected OMT techniques safely and effectively, enhancing their capacity to offer holistic, patient-centered care in their direct primary care practices.

Add-on Workshop***:  IUD/Nexplanon Workshop

Thursday, July 16 | 1:30–5:30 p.m. | Limit 32 


This practical workshop covers core skills for IUD and Nexplanon contraception. Participants will review patient counseling and selection, step-by-step insertion techniques, comfort measures, and post-procedure follow-up. For IUDs, the training includes standard placement and routine removal when strings are easily identified. For Nexplanon, the session focuses on best practices for implant insertion, verifying placement, and routine removal, along with troubleshooting common issues such as bleeding changes and patient questions. This workshop is not eligible for CME Credit.

Cancellation Policy

The AAFP must receive notice of cancellation no later than 21 days prior to the first day of the conference. Requests for full cancellations will be refunded—minus a $50 administrative fee. Cancellations or no-shows after this date are not eligible for a refund.

Please allow up to four weeks for delivery of refunds. Fees will be refunded the same way they were paid to the AAFP. This policy covers registration and ticketed events.

The AAFP is not responsible for penalties, non-refundable airline tickets, or hotel deposits that registrants may have spent in the event this course is cancelled or sold out. If a program is canceled by the AAFP, every effort will be made to notify registrants at least 30 days prior to the first day of the course or conference, and registration fees will be refunded.
